1947 UFO Sightings and the Roswell, NM UFO Crash Time Line
Mid April, 1947 - Walter A. Minozewski, a Weather Bureau meteorologist in Richmond, VA, observes a silver disc while tracking a small balloon used for measuring wind speed.
May 5th, 1947 - Mrs. H.G. Olavick sees 10 flying discs near Tucson, Arizona. One disc is much larger than the other nine.
May 19th, 1947 - Railway mechanics in Manitou Springs, Colorado watch an unidentified object perform unorthodox flight maneuvers for over 20 minutes during their lunch break.
Mid-To-Late May, 1947 - Byron Savage sees a massive disc-like object flying over Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
June 1st, 1947 - Mrs. C. W. Parks sees two separate groups of ten disc formations flying at high speeds from her home in Bakersfield, California.
June 1st, 1947 - Mrs. Inez Nostrant watches bright plate shaped objects flying in groups of twos and fours high over Grand Rapids, Michigan
June 2nd, 1947 - Carl Achee, Jr. and John Scales, Jr. see a flying circular shaped object over Shreveport, Louisiana.
June 10th, 1947 - Four unidentified flying objects are observed flying over Budapest, Hungary at high rates of speed by citizen, Gyorik Ference.
June 14th, 1947 - While outside a friend's home in Bakersfield, California, Richard Rankin observed a V formation of 10 metallic flying objects.
June 17th, 1947 - Mrs. Louis Korn of Dubuque, Iowa sees six floating objects over the Mississippi River that stay visible for about an hour.
June 17th, 1947 - Mrs. Emma Shingler sees multiple plate-shaped flying objects near Bremerton, Washington flying at high rates of speed.
June 17th, 1947 - Mr. & Mrs. H. K. Wheeler of Bremerton, Washington see three flying discs.
June 18th, 1947 - E. H. Sprinkler and others in Eugene, Oregon saw multiple saucers heading northeast at tremendous speeds.
June 19th, 1947 - Dr. Golden R. Battey was fishing near Beaufort, South Carolina when he saw four discs flying at great speeds at an estimated 20,000 feet altitude.
June 19th, 1947 - Eight to ten discs were seen by R.D. Taylor as they went over Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
June 20th, 1947 - Mrs. Jerry Neels spots some bright and shiny discs flying south of Kelso, Washington.
June 20th, 1947 - Nine discs in three triangular formations fly over Hot Springs, New Mexico as seen by Mrs. Annabel Mobley & Luanne Mobley.
June 21st, 1947 - Eight discs are seen descending near the shore of the Saint Joe River in Idaho.
June 21st, 1947 - Harold Dahl is fishing on his boat near Maury Island in the state of Washington when he sees six donut shaped craft fly over his boat. One of the crafts drops hot slag-like debris that breaks the arm of his son and kills their pet dog that was also onboard.
June 22nd, 1947 - A man dressed in an all black suit driving a new 1947 Buick visits Harold Dahl and issues unspecified threats and indicates that he has knowledge of the UFO incident.
June 22nd, 1947 - H.E. Hammond and his son see a flying pie-plate like object near Radium Springs, Oregon.
June 23rd, 1947 - E.B. Parks and a dozen other people see two bright discs flying at great speeds over Hazel Green, Alabama.
June 23rd, 1947 - Richard L. Bitters sees strange flying objects over Wapakoneta, Oregon.
June 23rd, 1947 - A railroad engineer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa sees ten disc-shaped objects flying in a formation like wild geese.
June 24th, 1947 - Kenneth Arnold sees boomerang like flying objects over Mount Rainier, Washington.
June 24th, 1947 - Fred M. Johnson, a prospector from Portland, Oregon, observes five or six flying craft while in the Mount Rainier area. He views one through a hand-held telescope and notes they are round, but tapering to a point in the head, about 30 feet in diameter, and had some sort of object in their tail area that shifted back and forth. He also noted that his compass needle was fluctuating wildly.

June 24th, 1947 - Charles Kastl is walking about 10 miles east of Joliet, Illinois when he sees nine discs flying at an estimated 4,000 feet at rapid speeds.
June 24th, 1947 - Lester Swingleson and his wife see eight platter shaped discs flying northwest from Lonejack, Missouri.
June 25th, 1947 - W.I. Davenport saw nine speeding discs flying near Kansas City, Missouri.
June 26th, 1947 - Larry Jones and two Catholic nuns see nine shiny craft with fins flying in the clouds above La Grande, Oregon.
June 26th, 1947 - A silver disc flying at 2,000 feet was seen by multiple witnesses - including pilot Roy Walters and airport manager Royce Knight.
June 27th, 1947 - A dentist from Silver City, New Mexico and his family see a disc fly slowly through the sky.
June 28th, 1947 - First Lieutenant Eric B. Armstrong of the Air Force is flying his P-51 30 miles north of Lake Meade, Nevada when he spots five or six white discs flying in formation at an altitude of 6,000 feet.
June 28th, 1947 - A farmer named Marion Beuschler and his brother see seven to ten flying discs over Rockfield, Wisconsin.
June 29th, 1947 - Members of the 15th Air Force division interview the railway workers (Ted Weigand, Dean A. Hauser, T.J. Smith, Marion Hisshouse, and L.D. Jamison) that saw the UFO on May 19th.
June 29th, 1947 - Mrs. Morton Elder see seven flying objects south of Pendleton, Oregon.
June 29th, 1947 - Charles Weaver and his wife see a formation of discs over Tucson, Arizona.
June 29th, 1947 - Rocket expert, Dr. C.J. Zohn, who was working on rockets at White Sands proving grounds in New Mexico, sees a circular disc shaped craft flying at about 8,000 to 10,000 feet while on Route 17 with three other witnesses.
June 29th, 1947 - Dale Bays sees a total of 17 inverted saucer shaped crafts flying at around 1,200 feet at about 300 miles per hour while he is traveling from Des Moines, Iowa to Mason City, Iowa.
June 30th, 1947 - A flight of eight to ten objects in a V formation fly toward Galena Summit, Idaho as seen by Walter Nicholson and others.
Late June 1947 - Radar operators at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM track unidentified objects
July 1st, 1947 - Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Balliet of Portland, Oregon see two groups of flying discs fly over their new home.
July 2nd, 1947 - A couple (Mr. and Mrs. Dan Wilmot) sees an unidentified flying object near Roswell, New Mexico.
July 3rd, 1947 - Lieutenant General Nathan F. Twining comments that officials are indeed looking into the matter of flying discs.
July 4th, 1947 - Mac Brazel finds debris in his field in Roswell, New Mexico.
July 5th, 1947 - Mac Brazel puts some of the debris on his truck & takes it into town and shows it to George Wilcox, sheriff of Roswell.
Frank Joyce, a reporter, talks to Mac Brazel when he is at the sheriff's office and refers him to the military.
July 7th, 1947 - Major Jesse Marcel & Capt. Sheridan Cavitt recover the debris.
July 8th, 1947 - Jesse Marcel, Jr.
is awoken in the wee hours of the morning by his father to look at the debris.
Sgt. Lewis Rickett is involved in a larger effort at debris recovery under the direction of Capt. Cavitt.
Lt. Walter Haut, press officer, gives Frank Joyce a press release saying the army has recovered a flying saucer. The story is published and picked up by the national press.
General Roger Ramey calls the cover-up press conference and announces that the debris was from a weather ballon. Pictures are taken with some debris and the cover-up story is released.
Jim Ragsdale said he saw the UFO crash in a ravine 40 miles NW of Roswell, NM and saw the army claim the crashed saucer and 4 dead occupants (January 1993 sworn statement)
Pvt George Newling witnessed the recovered debris being loaded onto a plane at Roswell Army Air Field.
The Roswell debris and bodies are sent to Hangar 84 at Wright Patterson AFB.
July 12th, 1947 - Kenneth Arnold is interviewed for six hours by Captain William Lee Davidson and First Lieutenant Frank Mercer Brown of the 4th Army Air Force Intelligence division.
Mid-To-Late July, 1947 - Kenneth Arnold meets with Harold Dahl and deems that the June 21st sighting is real and of military intelligence significance.
July 28th, 1947 - Pilots of United Air Lines flight 105 out of Boise, Idaho report seeing flying objects similar to the Kenneth Arnold sighting.
August 1st, 1947 - Two military intelligence officers visit Harold Dahl and confiscate the molten debris which he had kept from the June 21st incident. After the debris is loaded onto a B-25 and it takes off, the plane crashes near Kelso, Washington. Kenneth Arnold investigates the crash and is given the dog tags for one of the pilots, Frank Mercer Brown.
At some point, the Roswell bodies and debris are transported to a secret room in Washington, D.C. and Secretary of State, Cordell Hull shows his cousin, the Reverend Turner Hamilton Holt, the bodies and debris.
In 1978 - Major Jesse Marcel recounts the debris collection and confirms that the UFO debris contained material with unearthly properties. He discloses that the weather balloon story was a cover-up attempt.
